It’s been a while since I have been to show my craft work at events, around ten years in fact. The reason I got back into it was being asked if I was interested in bringing some along to Staffordshires Bump2fives event and maybe promote my Commoner Gardener blog too. This led to a panic about not having enough stock and really made me get on with some art work, which I really always appreciate doing.
On the day I held a ‘Plant a Sunflower’ Place on the stall and took along a few items for sale too.
This is The Salad Express a great display for quick crops like lettuce or cress and interested a lot of the children on the day. The train is a prototype and can be commissioned in other sizes.
I took some of my wood art along and set up the stall. Once all the compost and plant pots had been sorted I took a look around. There were so many fabulous stalls there including Simply Staffordshire, Michelle from Safe Hands Doula, Fairies of The Three Faries and Commando Dad to name a few.
My 2 girls had an absolutely brilliant time having their faces painted & making wands with the fairies, playing on the Funsters bouncy castle, making things for Fathers day at the Scrap Shack tables and marveling at the really wonderful Sublime Science people along with having gorgeous girlie Henna Tattoos from Opal Aura.
I was also able to give this specially made gift to it’s owner on the day. It’s a Cedar wood box (keeping the natural shape of the wood) with a turned Yew wood Plant Dibber marked in cm with a bottle of linseed oil for maintenance. Ok, it may be a little excessive for a garden implement but sometimes things just need to be lovely as well as useable.
Looking forward to my next show now. If I start to go to many more I may well have to start up an events calendar on here.
